Pre Exam CBSE Counselling
With the CBSE Board exams coming closer, the stress level among students appearing for board exams is soaring. The pressure before board exam makes lot of students nervous, depressed and demotivated, sometimes forcing them to take undesirable drastic steps. Every year several students take attempt to suicide because of the pressure they cannot tolerate. To minimise such incidents, CBSE Board has started providing pre-exam counselling through telephone as well as through newspapers in the form of Question and Answer columns, for the students appearing for board examination. The aim of this CBSE counselling is to de-stress students from exam related fear.
CBSE Counselling History
The CBSE annual counselling is an outreach programme that caters to the millions of CBSE Board aspirants over a vast geographical spread. 21 years back, CBSE started this pioneering community service in 1998 for the first time with Tele-counselling. CBSE is the only board in India that provides psychological counselling to the class X and XII board candidates. CBSE is providing this counselling in two phases. CBSE Phase - I counselling is provided before class 10 and class 12 board exams in February - April period while phase - II counselling is provided after declaration of board results in May - June period. Before this annual counselling, feedback and training sessions are conducted thoroughly and regularly to enhance the counselling skills of the participants.
CBSE counselling 2018 Notification:
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released a notification, announcing the dates for pre exam annual psychological counselling. This stress releasing counselling will be available between 8am to 10 pm. The service will be available through a toll-free helpline number (1800-11-8004) that was released by the board. For online counselling, students and parents can write to counselling.cecbse@gmail.com and sugandh.cbse@gmail.com beginning from February 1 and will continue till April 13. Students can get the counselling during the preparation time as well as at the time of examinations to get over exam related stress. Differently abled candidates can also avail this service by four special educators.
CBSE counselling 2018 Through News Papers:
CBSE experts and counsellors will also take the help of newspapers like The Hindu, Hindustan Times, Malayala Manorama and Amar Ujala to answer queries of students and parents through weekly Question Answer columns by publishing on regular basis during this period. CBSE has arranged counselling facility for differently abled children also so that their needs and anxiety of these special children can be taken care of. Along with these initiatives, CBSE has also provided exam related tips and techniques to cope up with the anxiety and stress on its official website. CBSE has explained the kind of physical and physiological reactions occuring in the body due to stress and their symptoms. CBSE Counselling by Telephone
Principals and trained counsellors from several schools affiliated to CBSE board located in India as well as outside India will provide free of cost tele-counselling service. This year CBSE has roped in 91 principals, trained counsellors, psychologists and special educators for the gigantic task of easing millions of students. Nearly 75% of them are located in India while 25% are located outside India in Nepal, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (Al-Khobar), Sultanate of Oman, UAE (Dubai, Sharjah, Ras Al-Khaimah), Kuwait, Singapore, Qatar and Japan.

However, due to heavy traffic of calls, the toll free number may appear busy. Therefore, students and parents are advised to have patience till their call gets answered.
CBSE Counselling - Reactions of Stake Holders
Tushar, a Class XII Science student says, “I have prepared thoroughly. However, I get jitters whenever I hear or think of exams. The pressure at this point of time is really high and sometimes it gets unbearable. Everyone wants to give their best in the board exam. I think the counselling session will help students students like me.”
