Most Common Mistakes During CBSE Class 12 Physics Paper

Mistake No. 1.

Several good students do not write their answers to the point. Because of more knowledge, they try to explain things in details. Sometimes a question of 1 mark is answered in half page or even full page. The answer length of Class 12 CBSE Physics Board question should be according to the marks provided for the question. Answers to 1 mark questions should be in 4 -5 lines and not half or full page. Remember writing more is also consuming your time that can ultimately left you out of time and you might be unable to complete all the questions in stipulated time.

Mistake No. 2.

Sometimes students do not write the formula when solving numerical problem. Remember, marks are allotted for writing the formula also and not writing the formula will make you lose marks. Moreover, even if you do some calculation mistake and your final answer is incorrect, you will get at least the marks for writing the formula and the steps you have written.

Mistake No. 3.

Some students flip the numerator and denominator in the formulae by mistake. Due to this the entire working of the numerical problem is incorrect and students get no marks for the answer.

Mistake No. 4.

Based on analysis of answer sheets of last years’ board papers, common mistake students make in Class 12 CBSE Physics Board exam is in the formula for finding capacitance in series. The correct formula is: 1/C = 1/C1 + 1/C2. However, several students have reportedly used: C = 1/C1 + 1/C2

Mistake No. 5.

Most common mistakes when student is answering numerical problem is related to units. In numerical problems some students either do not write units after getting their answer or do mistake in units. This results in loss of marks.

Mistake No. 6.

For questions asking about diagrams, students sometime do not label them properly. This leads to loss of marks. Therefore, always do proper labelling of the diagrams in board papers.

Mistake No. 7.

In the Class 12 CBSE Board exam, some questions have several parts in it, and each part is allocated some marks. Students often miss out a part of the question, thus losing anything from half a mark to 3 marks for the same.

Mistake No. 8.

In 1 mark questions asking for a "yes" or "no" answer, students should also write the reason (in 3-4 lines) for the "yes" or "no" in order to get full marks. In such questions, mostly half mark is allocated for each of the two parts of the answer.

Mistake No. 9.

Students should make sure they write the correct question number or the sub-question number for the answer they are writing. Any mistake here would result in loss of all marks even if their answer is correct.

Mistake No. 10.

Several students re-attempt certain questions. However, they forget to cut/strike the answer written previously. In such cases, CBSE rules ask examiners to accept the first attempt and ignore the second attempt. Therefore, you MUST Strike Out the First Answer even if you have written just one or two lines.
