JEE Main 2018 Examination: 10 important things to know about the joint entrance exam

Please note, JEE Main or Joint Entrance Examination Main is conducted by CBSE for admission to bachelors’ courses in engineering across various colleges in the country. At present, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Nagaland and Odisha have joined JEE Main. What it means is that there would be no separate engineering entrance examination in these states. Students from other states, however, may not write JEE Main examination. Kindly note, however, if an engineering aspirant seeks admissions in NITs and IITs, then they have to write the examination.

Here are 10 important things that every JEE aspirant should know.

 

1. Aadhar Card

Aadhar Card would be mandatory for JEE Main 2018 if the candidates is an Indian Citizens. Candidates who are not Indian Citizens, may however, be allowed to provide their passport number.

Candidates or students who are planning to write the examination are advised to have their Aadhaar cards ready. Students who are enrolled in CBSE schools may already have their aadhaar cards (aadhaar cards are mandatory for CBSE Board Examination 2018) but students belonging to state boards may not. If you do not have your aadhaar cards, you should apply for the same at the earliest.

 

2. JEE Main 2018 Application Forms

JEE Main 2018 applications have to be made online. The notification and application forms have not been released yet. However, the notification is likely to be released in the month of November. The Online Application forms are expected to start by last week of November. Ample time would be provided to candidates to apply online. Tentatively, the JEE Main 2018 online application forms are expected to release by November 28, 2018. This date, however, has not been confirmed officially yet.

 

3. Number of Papers

JEE Mains 2018 would have two papers: Paper I and Paper II.

Paper I is for admission to the B.E/B.Tech Courses. Also, JEE Main Paper I is a qualifying exam for JEE Advanced 2018 examination.

Paper II is for students who wish to take admission to architecture courses.

Please note, candidates can opt to write either Paper I or Paper II or both Paper I as well as Paper II.

 

4. Mode of Examination for JEE Main 2018

JEE Main 2018 Paper I would be conducted both offline (the pen and paper based mode) as well as online (computer based examination).

JEE Main Paper II, however, would only be a pen and paper based examination.

 

5. JEE Main 2018 Exam Date

CBSE recently announced the JEE Main 2018 dates. As per the small notification released on the official website for JEE Main, the offline or pen and paper examination for JEE Main 2018 would be conducted on Sunday, April 8, 2018. The dates for the online examination have not been declared as yet.

 

6. Pattern for JEE Main 2018

There is no notification about change in paper pattern. CBSE is likely to retain the pattern similar to JEE Main 2017 examination.

 

7. JEE Main 2018 Syllabus

Syllabus for JEE Main 2018 will be made available along with the brochure at the time of application form. However, the syllabus is expected to be similar to JEE Main 2017 syllabus.

 

8. JEE Main 2018 Mock Tests

CBSE provides Mock Test for JEE Main. You can also get previous years papers with answer key from official website of JEE. However, if you need more Mock tests or previous years papers (yearwise / subjectwise or chapterwise) with detailed solutions you can download Moducation from our official website. 9. JEE Main 2018 Result Date

JEE Main 2018 Result Date has not been declared so far. However, result is expected to be declare around 20th May 2018, a week earlier than JEE Main 2017 Result Date.

 

10. JEE Main 2018 ranking not for admission in IITs

While every IIT aspirant must write the JEE Main 2018 examination to qualify for JEE Advanced 2018 examination. However, the JEE Main 2018 rank would not determine the admissions to IITs.
