Advanced 2018 Mock Test For Computer Based Exam released by IIT Kanpur | Some Contradictions Observed

JEE Advanced 2018 is being organised by IIT Kanpur. In a latest update on the JEE Advanced website IIT Kanpur has released the mock test for JEE Advanced exam to be held on May 20, 2018.

JEE Advanced 2018: IIT Kanpur Released Mock Test For Computer Based Exam

The mock test can be accessed by anyone. This is the first year that JEE Advanced exam will be a computer based test (CBT). Till last year, the exam was conducted in only the offline mode. However, the exam will be conducted in computer based mode to avoid any discrepancy.

The mock test will help students having practice of a CBT. It will also help students get acclimatized with the functionalities and features of a computer based JEE Advanced exam.

Mock tests, apart from helping students understand the concept of a CBT, also allow students to test their preparedness for an exam. Students planning to appear in JEE Advanced must attempt the mock test at least once. Even those who opt for pen-paper based test in JEE Main will still have to appear in CBT if qualified for JEE Advanced. So it won't be wise to skip the mock test.

How to access JEE Advanced 2018 Mock Test?

Step 1: Visit JEE Advanced 2018 official website: www.jeeadv.ac.in

Step 2: Click on the link provided for Mock Test.

Step 3: The mock screen will appear. This is how the computer screen will look like on the day of the exam.

Step 4: Click on the sign in button. You do not need to provide any login credentials for the mock test. However, in actual JEE Advanced you will have to submit login credentials to continue with exam.

Step 5: In the next screen, you will be provided instructions for the computer based JEE Advanced. Students are advised to read them carefully while appearing for real exam and click on Next.

Step 6: In the next window again read all the instructions and select your default language from English and Hindi. Agree to the declaration and click on 'I am ready to begin'. Your mock test will start.

Some features of the JEE Advanced 2018 Mock Test:

Each subject is divided in three sections. The first two sections for each subject has eight questions and the last section has four questions based on two paragraphs provided. In total there are 20 questions from each subject. However, students must note that the mock test is based on previous JEE Advanced exams and JEE Advanced 2018 may not have same pattern or number of questions.

A timer is given on the top right corner of the screen which will denote the time that has passed since you started the test. The sample mock JEE Advanced also allows a student to navigate between subjects and separate sections.

Contradicting Points Observed by Moducation Expert

Moducation Experts have tried the JEE Advanced 2018 mock test and found some contradicting issues.

1. In single digit answer questions I was able to answer more than 1 digits and also type texts. This may create problem to JEE Advanced aspirants because once A student has answered the question and going to click save and next, unintentional text might get typed in the answer box if student touches the keypad by mistake.

2. In every Section of Question Paper a tab asking to submit answers for that Section is provided. When I clicked on it, it asked again to submit the test and when I confirmed the while exam got submitted. So I feel this feature is unnecessarily given.
