Question 1. Will JEE Main January 2019 examination be conducted Offline as well as online?

Answer: No. JEE Main January 2019 will be conducted as Computer Based Test (CBT) mode only. There will be no offline pen and paper mode for JEE Main January 2019.

Question 2. What is Eligibility Criteria for JEE Main January 2019?

Answer: For JEE Main January 2019, Only those candidates who have passed their Class 12th Exam or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2017 or 2018; or those who are appearing in their Class 12th Exam or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2019 are eligible to appear in JEE Main January 2019. Candidates who passed Class 12th / Qualifying examination in 2016 or before as well as those who will appear in such examination in 2020 or later are not eligible to appear in JEE Main January 2019. Candidates who appeared in class 12th /  equivalent qualifying Examinations in 2016, did not pass in 2016, but passed in 2017 are also not eligible to appear in JEE Main 2019.

Question 3. What is Age Limit for JEE Main 2019 (January) application form?

Answer: For appearing in the JEE Main 2019 examination there is no age limit for the candidates. The candidates who have passed XII examination in 2017, 2018 or appearing in 2019 irrespective of their age can appear in JEE Main examination 2019 to be held in January and April. The candidates should satisfy themselves about the eligibility of age limit requirements of the Institutes in which he/she is desirous of taking admission.

Question 4. Is a candidate who has passed in 2018 and appearing for improvement in 2019 eligible for JEE 2019 Exam?

Answer: Yes

Question 5. What is the State of Eligibility for the Improvement Candidates  /  Institution Abroad  /  NIOS?

Answer: If a candidate has passed Class 12th /  Equivalent qualifying examination from one state but appeared for improvement from another state, his / her state code of eligibility will be from where he / she has originally passed Class 12th /  Equivalent qualifying examination and not the state from where he / she has appeared for improvement.

Indian nationals passing the equivalent qualifying examination from an institution abroad, the State of Eligibility will be determined on the basis of permanent address in India as given in the Passport of the candidate. Candidate passed / appearing class 12th from NIOS should select the State of Eligibility according to the state in which the study Centre is located. The State of Eligibility is not applicable for the candidates belonging to Nepal  / Bhutan / Foreign / OCI / PIO.

Question 6. How many times a student can appear in one year?

Answer: As per the new scheme, the JEE Main 2019 examination would be conducted twice in a year (Once in January and then in April). Both these attempts for admission in a particular academic session will be treated as One because only one score (better of the two) will be considered for all India ranking. The age eligibility as prescribed under clause Point No-2.9 “Eligibility for appearing in JEE (Main) – 2019” allows a candidate to appear in JEE (Main) for three consecutive years.

Question 7. Are Diploma Students Eligible for JEE Main 2019 (January)?

Answer: Yes, to appear in JEE (Advanced) a diploma holder can apply in JEE Main 2019 but his / her rank and score for JEE Main will not be declared as diploma holders cannot apply for admission in NITs and CFTIs through JEE Main channel.

Question 8. How will Normalization of JEE Main 2019 score be decided?

Answer: JEE Main January 2019 score for each shift will be converted to percentile score. Similarly, JEE Main April 2019 score for each shift will also be converted to percentile score. For a particular student, better of the two will be considered for deciding final All India Ranking. Please download the Normalization Procedure-NTA Score from the Home Page of JEE-Main official website i.e. https://jeemain.nic.in/webinfo/Public/Home.aspx for details.

Question 9. In case photograph is not having name and date, would the form be rejected?

Answer: Name of the candidate and date on which the photograph is taken is to be mentioned on the photograph. But in case uploaded photograph does not have name and date, the form will not be rejected and no correction is required in such a case and he / she will be issued admit card for appearing in JEE Main January 2019 as usual.

Question 10. Why option for Date and Shift is not given in JEE Main January 2019?

Answer: To determine the NTA Score on the basis of two attempts made by the equal number of candidates is a prerequisite. Hence, the random allotment will be made by the computer software, as per decision taken by the NTA

Question 11. What is the syllabus for JEE Main 2019 Exam?

Answer: The syllabus for JEE Main 2019 exam to be conducted in January as well as April will be same as that for JEE Main 2018 Exam. Detailed JEE Main 2019 Syllabus can be seen here.

Question 12. What is the Pattern of JEE Main 2019 Exam?

Answer: JEE Main 2019 exam shall have two papers, Paper-1 (B. E. /B. Tech.) and Paper-2 (B. Arch. /B. Planning.). Candidates may take Paper-1 (B. E. /B. Tech.) only, or Paper-2 (B. Arch. /B. Planning.) only, or both as per the course(s) they are seeking admission to. Paper-1 will be held only in online mode (Computer Based Test) and will consist of objective type questions with equal weightage to Mathematics, Physics & Chemistry. Paper-2 will be held only in offline mode (Pen and Paper based Test) and will consist of two parts. Part-1 (Mathematics) and Part-2 (Aptitude test) and will have objective type questions as well as Pen and Paper Based (offline) mode to be attempted on Drawing Sheet to test Drawing Aptitude.

Question 13. How can I check status of JEE Main 2019 Exam fee payment?

Answer: The candidates are required to check the status of fee payment at NTA website (www.jeemain.nic.in).

The candidate should take the printout of Confirmation Page. In case, the Confirmation Page is not being downloaded. The candidates are advised to follow as following:-
(i) If the fee is paid through e-challan by depositing cash in the nearest SBI bank, the candidate should contact immediately the concerned bank to update his/her fee status on the website.
(ii) If the fee is paid through credit/debit card and status is not OK, wait for at least 48 hours for updation. If still not updated, it means the transaction is cancelled and the amount will automatically be refunded to concerned credit/debit card within 7 – 10 days. Therefore, such candidates have to pay the fee once again and ensure the OK fee status.

Question 14. What to do if transaction fails while paying the fee?

Answer: If the payment status of the online transaction (by credit / debit card) is not communicated by payment gateway in real time, then fee payment is not completed and the candidates will be required to pay the fees again either through the online transaction or by e-challan and to download the acknowledgement page. Your amount of failed transaction of credit / debit card will be refunded back within 7 to 10 days and if, fee payment is made through e-challan is not updated on the your application, the candidate must contact the concerned bank / branch for updation of fee.

Question 15. While paying the fee, what a candidate can do in case of failed transaction?

Answer: If the payment status of online transaction (by credit / debit card) is not communicated by payment gateway in real time then fee payment is not completed and candidate will not be able to download acknowledgement page. In this case, the candidates are required to pay the fees again either through online transaction or by e-challan and download the acknowledgement page. Your amount of failed transaction of credit / debit card will be refunded back within 7 to 10 days to card account. In case, fee payment is made through e-challan and the fee is not updated on the website, the candidate should contact the concerned bank / branch for updation of fee. Even if the challan is not updated by the bank till last date, such candidates should send the copy of paid e-challan through e-mail on jeemain@nic.in.

Question 16. Will the application of JEE (main)-2019 be rejected if a candidate have filled duplicate forms?

Answer: Multiple forms leads to cancellation of Application Form of JEE (Main)-2019. However, NTA will accept only one Application Form and Admit card will be issued on only single Application Form.

Question 17. Will the JEE exams get tougher from 2019 onwards due to involvement of National Testing Agency?

Answer: No. The syllabus and the pattern of the examination would remain the same.

Question 18. When JEE Main January 2019 will be conducted?

Answer: It will be conducted twice in January, 2019 and in April, 2019.

Question 19. Can I use calculator in online examination conducted by NTA?

Answer: No. Candidates are not allowed to carry calculators or any other electronic device in the examination centre.

Question 20. I have no access to a computer and no experience with online examination. How can I prepare for the examination?

Answer: NTA will be identifying schools, colleges and other institutions with internet and computer facilities in due course of time. The same will be designated as Test Practice Centers (TPCs) for facilitating free practice sessions.

Question 21. Which Browser is to be used for applying the online application of JEE (main)-2019 Examination?

   OR

Question 22. Continuous time out or file not found error is occurring while filling online application of JEE Main2018. What should I do?

Answer: Candidate should Use Mozilla Firefox/Internet Explorer (above 9.0) and good internet connection while filling online Application Form. In case of continuous time out clear cookies and history of the browser and fill in off-peak hours.

Question 23. Is it necessary to appear in JEE Main 2019 Examination twice? If I give the examination on both the occasions, which score will be considered?

Answer: No it is not necessary to appear in JEE Main twice. It is optional for the candidate to appear either in JEE Main January 2019 or JEE Main April 2019 or Both for the current academic session. In case a candidate appears in both the tests, the better of these two scores will be used for the admissions and eligibility for JEE Advance 2019.

Question 24. Will there be any changes in the JoSSA counselling process?

Answer: No, there is no change in JoSSA counselling process

Question 25. What is the last date to submit the JEE Main January 2019 application form?

Answer: Last date to submit the JEE Main application form is September 30, 2018

Question 26. What is the last date to pay JEE Main January 2019 Application fees?

Answer: Last date to pay JEE Main January 2019 Application fees is October 1, 2018

Question 27. Is Aadhaar number compulsory to fill the JEE Main January 2019 online application form?

Answer: Yes it is mandatory to fill the application form, failing to do so you will not be able to submit the form. If you do not possess an Aadhaar card number, you will be required to enrol for it and then submit the Aadhaar Enrolment Number containing 14 digits along with a slash “ / ”.

Question 28. What if I am unable to apply for Aadhaar Card?

Answer: To assist candidates in getting the Aadhaar Card, CBSE has established various JEE Main 2019 Aadhaar Facilitation Center where the candidates can enrol for UIDAI Aadhaar Card and in case the facility to enrol will not be available the candidates will be issued a Registration Number which is the number you need to fill the application.

Question 29. How can I pay application fee for the JEE Main application form?

Answer: You can pay the fee by both modes, online mode via Credit / Debit Card, Net Banking applicable only for ICICI Bank, PayTM / SBI Buddy Wallet / Cash Cards applicable only for Syndicate Bank or the offline mode via the E-Challan of Syndicate  /  Canara  /  ICICI / HDFC Bank (Additional charges will be applicable).

Question 30. Do I need to submit two separate Application Forms in order to apply for Paper 1 and 2 of JEE Main 2019?

Answer: No

Question 31. My name in Aadhaar Card and that in the School Records do not match. Is there any problem in it?

Answer: Yes, this might harm the candidature. However, do not worry as you can submit a correction request at Aadhaar Center and in return to the correction request, the candidates will get a slip having a 14 digit enrollment number will be mentioned which must be filled in JEE Main Registration.

Question 32. I have forgotten my JEE Main Registration Password. What to do now?

Answer: The candidates will be able to reset their password of JEE Main 2019 application form through the security question and answer chosen by the candidates during the filling of the JEE Main application form after which a verification code is sent on the registered mobile number or by using a reset link sent to you on your registered email ID.

Question 33. How to recover JEE Main 2019 Application Number?

Answer: Worry not. You can click on “I can’t access my account?” Following which, the candidates will have to select “I forgot my JEE Main Application Number” after which the some details will have to be submitted similar to the information submitted during registration like Candidate’s Name, Mother’s Name, Father’s Name, Date of Birth, State of Eligibility, Case Sensitive Security Pin and later click on “Submit”. The JEE Main 2019 application number will be recovered after submitting all of the required information.

Question 34. How can candidates outside India (PIO / OCI / NRI) apply for the examination without the Aadhaar Card?

Answer: Candidates outside India may apply using their Passport details.

Question 35. I have made mistakes in my application form. Should I fill another one or correct the mistakes in the form?

Answer: The correction facility will be opened by the authorities after the submission process is over (Expected from second week of October 2018).

Question 36. Where should I send the JEE Main 2019 application form and other documents?

Answer: No documents need to be sent separately to any JEE conducting authorities.

Question 37. What should I fill as my school details because I have done my 10+2 from NIOS?

Answer: The marks secured in 10+2 from NIOS have to be submitted by the candidates while filling the online application form. Along with the marks, the year of passing, name of school board, type of institution, name of school / institute of the candidate for 10th and 12th standard also has to be submitted.

Question 38. How many exam centres should I choose?

Answer: Candidates will have to select 4 exam centres according to their preference.

Question 39. I am finding it difficult to fill JEE Main 2019 application form. Where can I ask for help in filling the form?

Answer: The guidelines to fill the application form of JEE Main 2019 will be released by the NTA official authorities. The candidates can refer to the guidelines to register themselves for the examination.

Question 41. Would I need to upload non-creamy layer certificates for OBC Quota?

Answer: No

Question 42. My father is no more. Can l give only my mother’s signature?

Answer: Yes, you have to fill your mother’s details.

Question 44. What all things will be required while filling up the application from?

Answer: Scanned copies of photograph and signature, Class 10th and 12th related information, details / certificates (For students who have passed Class 12th in 2017 or 2018) and payment method you want to use like Debit Card or Credit Card.

Question 45. I have appeared in JEE last year. How many chances do I have left with me?

Answer: Applicants can attempt JEE Main exam 3 times only. Thus, you can apply four more times (two years).

Question 46. I have recently submitted the request for updation in Aadhaar details (including biometric updation). How can I apply?

Answer: Such Candidates have to apply for JEE Main by entering 14 digits Aadhaar Enrolment ID / UR No. (Including slash) printed on the slip issued by Aadhaar Centre after submitting updation request.

Question 47. The date of birth is not fully mentioned in Aadhaar card. What should I do now?

Answer: Such candidates should submit a correction request at Aadhaar centre and apply for JEE Main by entering 14 digits Aadhaar Enrolment ID / UR No. (Including slash) printed on the slip issued by aadhaar centre after submitting updation request.

Question 48. My name in Aadhaar in not exactly similar (not in same sequence) as in school records. What should I do?

Answer: Such candidates should submit a correction request at Aadhaar centre and apply for JEE Main by entering 14 digits Aadhaar Enrolment ID / UR No. (Including slash) printed on the slip issued by aadhaar centre after submitting updation request.

Or

Such candidates should fill the form of JEE Main with old details in Aadhaar card and thereafter submit a correction request at Aadhaar centre. The updated details in Aadhaar may be corrected in JEE Main at later stage by the process which will be notified in due course of time.

Question 49. The name of father /  mother is not exactly same as in school records. The address mentioned in Aadhaar has been changed due to transfer or some other reason.

Answer: These particular are not being matched with Aadhaar data so the candidates should correctly fill these particulars as per school records. The present / permanent address may also be filled accordingly since CBSE do not send any communication on the candidates’ address.

Question 50. What mistakes can be corrected during month of October 2018 when the corrections will be allowed by the Board?

Answer: The correction in particulars can be done only if the candidates have paid the fee and completed all the steps of online application form of JEE Main 2019. The candidates can modify all the particulars including city of examination, Paper - 2 to Paper - 1 and vice versa or select both papers of his / her application form during the facility of correction in October, 2018. The balance fee, if any due to correction in particulars, will have to be paid by the candidates during that period.

Question 51. The candidates applied for both paper 1 & Paper 2 but do not want to appear in Paper - 2 or Paper - 1.

Answer: There is no compulsion for such candidates to appear in both papers, they can appear in the paper of their choice. But there is no refund of fee.

Question 52. The candidate is appearing in class 12th examination in 2019 or improvement examination in 2019. How will they enter their roll number of class 12th?

Answer: The option of entering Roll Number is not mandatory, if it is allotted then mention it, otherwise leave it empty and fill the remaining options in the JEE Main 2019.

Question 53. In case the candidate(s) fails to book the date for online examination after paying the fees or the capacity in the selected city is full, how will they know about the date and session of the examination?

Answer: If a candidate does not make any selection, he / she shall be randomly assigned a slot / date as per the availability of the same in the examination city selected by them. Details of session and slot will be mentioned on their admit card which can be downloaded from the website during March 2018 as per schedule.

Question 54. What should be done, if the candidate has opted Hindi / Gujarati medium for examination and wants to appear in English medium?

Answer: The question paper will be bilingual (both in Hindi / English and Gujarati / English) for the candidates who have opted Hindi / Gujarati medium. The candidate can attempt question in any medium during examination.

Question 55. What action is to be taken, if the candidate has opted English medium for examination and wants to appear Hindi / Gujarati in medium?

Answer: Such candidates should do the correction in their application form.. In computer based examination, candidates can choose the medium on their screen during the examination.

Question 56. If a candidate has passed in 2017 / 2018 and has appeared for improvement in 2019, what he will fill in the academic details section?

Answer: Select the year of passing class 12th as 2016 / 2017 and enter the roll number, name of the board and other details of 2017 / 2018 in the application form. Select ‘yes’ in the column - appearing for improvement examination. The roll number of improvement examination 2019 may be filled in the month of March at the time of downloading admit cards of JEE Main.

Question 57. I am an NRI. How should I enter my mobile number?

Answer: An NRI or foreign student should enter the mobile number of his / her relative residing in India.

Question 58. Are the candidates appearing in Paper - 2 eligible for admission to B.Arch. course in IITs?

Answer: No, the candidates appeared in Paper - 2 are eligible for admission to B. Arch. Course only in NITs / SPAs other CFTIs (where B.Arch. course is available). For admission to B.Arch. in IIT’s, there is separate procedure for which the candidates should see the website of IITs.

 

JEE Main 2019 Application Form Correction

National Testing Agency strongly advised applicants to be very careful while filling application form. For example, they can refer registration to see spellings of names of candidate and parents. Once the application form is submitted, they may or may not have a chance for form correction.

Only one time opportunity was given to JEE aspirants for correcting their details (Personal) filled in the Application form. JEE Main 2019 Application Form Correction only for 1 time correction. A candidate was eligible to correct the particular detail, once they have completed all the steps and have successfully completed payment of JEE Main Application Form.
